Bright pink and green plant with round pink seed heads that look like flowers

Orach 'Rose Gold'

£2.55

From our friends at Winnow Farm Seeds comes a rare and wonderful dual-purpose plant that truly earns its place in the garden. Rose Gold Orach is a hardy, drought-resistant beauty that rewards you twice over, first with delicious, tender leaves and later with a stunning display. The young leaves are perfect for fresh salads or lightly cooked as a spinach-like green, with a mild, earthy flavour. As the plant matures, zesty green leaves grow along striking pink stems, before bursting into tall seed heads in shades of rose and gold. When it goes to seed, they catch the light, rustle musically in the breeze and bring serious drama to beds and borders.

Plants come back best when self sown - allow at least one plant to self sow for next year's supply.

  • Sow: April undercover, May-June outside.
  • Plant: 4-6 weeks after sowing at 30cm. Wait until risk of frost has passed.
  • Harvest: Young leaves for eating. Pick stems when flowers are half open. 60cm stem length.

Winnow Farm Seeds are a small seed farm and seed company based in Dorset. They focus on great quality seeds that are tested to thrive in the British climate. Their varieties are chosen for their great taste and are all open pollinated varieties with no F1 hybrids.
